James Byron (The Voice UK 2014) Review

It was lovely to catch up with James, its been a long time since I’ve seen him to chat too or watch live and I cannot wait to catch up with him again…. if I can get my flash working I may even try and set up a photo shoot 😀

On to the review….

(OH almost forgot!! James was supporting Mark Gardner (hope I’ve spelt that right) at Mama Lizs Voodoo Lounge on 31st July 2014 in Stamford, Lincolnshire, UK.  Shout out to Michael who runs the Voodoo Lounge and does a damned good job of it!)

The whole set was acoustic and very intimate which made it all the more special.  The set list is as follows;

Rage Through Me
Watch This Space
Good Enough
Won’t Make a Difference
Long Road Out of Nowhere
Love Hurts (cover)
Cry Baby (Cover)
2 Days

James’ voice was in perfect form and sounded completely different to the days of covering The Sex Pistols (though I do know those days may not be completely gone….. watch this space……) this isn’t to say it was a bad thing – t’s always good to have an eclectic mix to your repetoir (I can never remember how to spell that word and AC is being no help!)

Like his looks, James’ voice has a very feminine feel that can at times be low and soulful, rough and smouldering or hitting those high notes with enough power to make you just stand and “wow” as there is little other response when that voice comes from such a slight person.

My personal favourite tracks are “Good Enough” and “2 Days” which is currently running through my head.

There is also various youtube videos incl youtube.com/watch?v=oK6H5d1yOJA which is the amazing cover of Cry BABY BY Janis Joplin (MY GOD he did that track proud!)
